St. Patrick’s
Day Charity Selection Press Release—October 19, 2010

The Lawrence St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee is
kicking-off its 24th annual fundraising campaign. Recipients this
year will be Cooper's Cause Foundation, Imagine Drop-In Childcare, and
Junior Achievement. This year the proceeds from the Parade Committee’s
fundraising efforts will be divided equally among these three organizations.
We are gratified by this opportunity to continue to support the health and
well being of our community’s young people.

Cooper’s Cause Foundation provides financial assistance
to families of pediatric heart patients in the Lawrence area whose medical
expenses go beyond what insurance will pay and who do not qualify for other
programs that provide financial aid.

Imagine Drop-In Childcare offers support and
affordable, licensed hourly care for the children of Lawrence families in
need.

Junior Achievement brings kids in local schools
together with role models from the business community who teach real world
lessons through hands-on activities and this year alone will connect with
more than 4000 students in over 200 classrooms.
We on the committee look forward to working with these
organizations through the coming months and we believe the entire community
benefits from the services and programs they provide.
Since 1988 the Lawrence St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Committee has provided more than $579,000 to local charities. The Lawrence
St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee is a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit
organization that makes a difference through community spirit, by giving
back, and by turning a one day holiday into an opportunity to celebrate our
community year round.
Money raised comes from donations and from hosting
special fundraising events including the Annual Charity Benefit Auction,
5K
fun run, and T-shirt sales.
Additional events include a Trivia Night, Dart
Tournament, Motorcycle Rally, Casino Night, Bowling and more. A Spelling Bee
for grown-ups and a Texas Hold’em Tournament will be held in the next few
weeks. The Poker Tournament will be November 14th and the
Spelling Bee challenge will be on November 20th. The community is
invited to participate in the events and to help our beneficiaries by
attending any or all of these activities as well as the St. Patrick’s Day
Parade on March 17th. Information and schedules can be found on
our web site at http://lawrencestpatricksdayparade.com
