Charity Beneficiaries

Every year, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade committee choses a group of Douglas County area children’s charities as the beneficiaries of the funds we raise at a variety of fundraising events, all leading up to Parade Day. Once we have our beneficiaries selected, the work really begins. Charities are involved in every aspect of running our parade and the many charitable events we hold each year.

In 2024, we are very excited to be raising money for:

BabyJay's Legacy of Hope
BabyJay's Legacy of Hope provides direct financial and emotional support to families during their child's battle with pediatric cancer. BabyJay's helps relieve emotional and financial stress, allowing the families it serves to focus more on their child during their cancer journey.
Lawrence Community Nursery School
Lawrence Community Nursery School, established in 1948, is the second oldest cooperative preschool in the nation and continues to provide Lawrence with a preschool education that is cooperative, interracial, low cost, diverse, accessible, and inclusive.
Lawrence Unchained Bicycle Co-op
Lawrence Unchained Bicycle Co-op provides low cost or free bicycles, bicycle parts, helmets, service workshops, cycling related events, educa?on, and mentoring to Lawrence area kids, families, and individuals who may not otherwise be financially able to afford them.
Positive Bright Start
Positive Bright Start is focused on building strong children and fostering life-long success through proactive, integrated, trauma sensitive practices. PBS provides early childhood education, therapy services, and financial aid for children younger than six and their families.
River City Rock Camp
River City Rock Camp is devoted to the educational and artistic development of young musicians by providing an immersive music education program and giving students a complete rock-n-roll experience all while fostering self-confidence which can positively impact other areas of their lives.

We have a complete list of the St. Pat's Beneficiaries since 1988!

From a past charity:

To say that we have already benefited from our experience with the Lawrence St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee would be an understatement.  The committee and its “friends in the community” have shown Lawrence Youth Football and its family of friends what wonderful things that can happen when everyone works together for a common cause.  The effort put forth by your group is an amazing thing to see and ultimately be a part of.  We are forever grateful and thankful to be a benefactor of the Lawrence St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee."
